Here are a couple of interesting facts that I derived from the official docket for the forthcoming financial town meeting as well as from a draft school district budget (PDF).
Somebody’s going to have to explain to me how the Budget Committee reductions are intolerable, unreasonable, and likely to destroy the schools and the town, because they seem entirely reasonable to me. Town officials just have to stop giving so much money away.
By way of explanation of the second graph: There’s almost a million dollars of difference between what the Budget Committee and Town Solicitor Andy Teitz determined the district should expect from state and federal aid (based on the best information available) and what the school committee is claiming it expects.
